Listed as the second largest parade in the country, the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade will thrill spectators with floats and marching bands in a celebration of Irish heritage.

Viewed by over 600,000 people every year, the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at the Broadway “T” Station and ends at Andrew Square in South Boston.  Since 1901, the parade has become an integral part of South Boston’s history. 

Throughout the whole month of March, Irish events are o’plenty, from top entertainment acts from Ireland, local bands, Irish bread bake-offs and corn beef & cabbage dinners at nearly every restaurant. 

There is also an array of places to visit after the parade…Walk along the city’s Irish Heritage Trail, visit the JFK Library or stroll through the Irish Cultural Centre.  Whatever your pleasure, Boston has something for everyone.  So don your Aran sweaters, put on something green and enjoy the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  Happy St. Patrick's Day from the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf!

Page Wine Cellars – February 28, 2012

Returning to the Festival are brothers Bryan and Chris Page of Page Wine Cellars and Revolver Wine Company.  Taking the term “handcrafted” to another level, Page Wine Cellars will present their every growing portfolio with varietals ranging from sauvignon blanc to their premium meritage blend.

Opus One Winery – February 29, 2012 – SOLD OUT

Synonymous with perfection and harmony, Opus One is a legendary winery considered by many to be America’s first growth, stemming from the name “Opus” meaning a musical expression denoting the first masterwork of a composer.  Enjoy an exquisite dinner, hosted by France Posener, showcasing their highly desirable wines.

Marc de Grazia – March 1, 2012 – Seminar & Dinner
(Dinner only option available)

With emphasis on significant agricultural sites, from more than 80 small estates from 14 Italian wine regions, encompasses the source of grapes that are used by the Marc de Grazia Company.  Founder Marco de Grazia will begin with a seminar featuring Terre Nere from the slopes of Mt. Etna and dinner will include Northern Italian wines from Tuscany, Piedmont and Veneto.

Italian Wine Reception – March 2, 2012

Held in The Wharf Room, this reception will showcase the diversity of wines, with a sampling of more than 45 wines, from various regions of Italy, while Chef Bruce takes on classics from this culinary mecca.

Grgich Hills Estate – March 6, 2012

One of the most recognized wineries in California, Grgich Hills Estate welcomes wine lovers to its Napa Valley family-owned winery, founded by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich.  Showcasing their richly textured and understated wines, Violet Grgich will offer an opportunity that will delight the most discriminating wine and food aficionados.

Newton Vineyard – March 7, 2012

Hailing from Spring Mountain, California, Newton Vineyard is acclaimed as a wine trailblazer, with its unfiltered wines processed through minimal intervention.  Welcome winemaker, Chris Millard as he showcases these wines.

Elio Grasso – March 8, 2012

Award winning Elio Grasso produces some of the most outstanding wines in the Piedmont region of Italy and Elio’s son, Gianluca Grasso will present these wines paired with Chef Bruce’s Northern Italian influenced menu.

Justin Vineyards & Winery – March 9, 2012

Enjoy the internationally respected wines of the Huber family, dating back more than 200 years.  Chef Bruce will source Austrian ingredients to add to the authenticity of this Traisental region.

Trimbach – February 16, 2012

For twelve generations, Maison Trimbach has been producing the finest wines from Alsace, France and has developed into one of the greatest wine houses in the region.  Sample the pleasures of these fine wines and be entertained by Jean Trimbach.

Rising Stars – February 17, 2012

The popular Rising Star dinner returns and, for the first time, features two wineries from Sonoma.  George Wine Co. and Flanagan Vineyards will share the stage and present an unforgettable gathering.

 

Jazz Brunch – February 19, 2012

Honoring the successful French Quarter Wine Festival in New Orleans, our Jazz Brunch will have you savoring a decadent Cajun-influenced buffet created by Chef Bruce and swaying to the smooth easy sounds of a New Orleans Jazz band.

One of Argentina’s most dynamic winemakers, Susana Balbo is the only person to serve two terms as President of Wines of Argentina.  Returning after five years, Susana and her son, Jose will present her newest wines from the Mendoza area, praised for their value as well as their quality.

Forman Vineyard & Emmolo Wine Company – February 9, 2012

Hosting this fantastic event are husband and wife, Ric Forman and Cheryl Emmolo.  A legend in Napa Valley, Ric Forman presents his old-world style cabernets and chardonnays and sums up the character of Forman Vineyards with two words…finesse and elegance.  Cheryl Emmolo produces sauvignon blanc, merlot and syrah at her Rutherford winery, the Emmolo Wine Company.  “…we will always approach our wines with the care and attention of a small family winery.  That’s what we do best.” Cheryl Emmolo.  All the wine will be complemented by a signature Chef Bruce 4-course meal.

2012 Boston Wine Festival Brings you Donelan, Beringer, & Revana

January is exploding with a plethora of aromas and flavors as the 2012 Boston Wine Festival at Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf gets into full swing.  On January 18th Donelan Family Wines will delight your palate with their California wine selections.  The next evening the spotlight moves to the seductive flavors from Beringer Vineyards' portfolio and on January 27th the 2012 Boston Wine Festival welcomes the Revnna Family Vineyard and their world-class cabernets.

Beringer Vineyards:  January 19, 2012
 "Beringer Vineyards is the oldest continuously run and operating winery in the Napa Valley. Today, more than 130 years since its inception, the winery continues making memorable wines from its great Napa Valley vineyards. Join longtime winemaker, Laurie Hook, as she hosts this dinner featuring the many varietals that they produce, including the Private Reserve chardonnay and cabernet."

 

Revana Family Vineyard:  January 27, 2012
"These boutique, ultra premium cabernets are the inspiration of Dr. Madaiah Revana, who planted vines in 1998 just north of St. Helena. 2010 Winemaker of the Year, Thomas Rivers Brown oversees this estate, which is comprised of nine separate blocks and only nine acres in total. This is a rare opportunity to taste the 2008 and 2005 cabernets, as well as pinots from their sister property, Alexana, in Oregon with Dr. Revana."

2012 Boston Wine Festival Begins with the Hess Collection
