A Festival in Celebration of Wine – 2012 Boston Wine Festival

Wine can truly make any celebration better, but when the celebration is about the wine itself, everything comes together perfectly.  The 2012 Boston Wine Festival does just that.  We are so excited to present our next grouping of outstanding events.

Chappellet Winery – March 13, 2012

One of the first high elevation vineyards, situated 1,200 feet above the floor of Napa Valley, Chappellet Winery embodies the idea of sustainable farming and their wines are highly sought after by collectors.  Cyril Chappellet introduces us to the second-generation owned family of wines by Chappellet Winery.

 Cain Vineyard & Winery – March 14, 2012

With its dedication of producing only three cabernet blends: Cain Cuvée, Cain Concept and Cain Five, Cain Vineyard & Winery brings to the Festival a truly spectacular selection coupled with a delectable dinner prepared by Chef Bruce.

Kamen Estate Wines – March 15, 2012

Robert Kamen is not only a successful winemaker, but also a tremendous screenwriter of movies such as The Karate Kid series, The Fifth Element and Taken.  Kamen Estate Wines is no stranger to success, being a past winner of our Battle of the Cabernets dinner in 2005 and the Rising Stars dinner in 2010.

California Cabernet Reception – March 16, 2012

Experience some of the greatest cabernets in the
world Wine festival 3and sample an array of perfectly complementary dishes, meant to enhance these wines, prepared by Chef Bruce.

Wagner Family of Wine – Seminar & Dinner – March 20, 2012

Jospeh Wagner, owner of Wagner Family of Wine, will present their world re-known Special Selection Cabernets, followed by the entire portfolio from this family-produced winery.  Five generations have helped to gain a reputation for quality and consistency for this winery that few can match.

Burgess Cellars – March 21, 2012 

Tom Burgess, the first winemaker to host a dinner at the Boston Wine Festival in 1990, is returning and we’re so excited to have you experience his wide variety of estate-produced Napa wines, including three special library cabernets.

Elyse Winery – Seminar & Dinner – March 22, 2012

Ray Coursen, owner and winemaker, will lead a captivating seminar on his famous zinfandels and then present during a special dinner the full range of bottle from his Rhône style wine portfolio.

Get Your Green On for the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

Listed as the second largest parade in the country, the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade will thrill spectators with floats and marching bands in a celebration of Irish heritage.

Grab a great seat anywhere along Broadway! 

Viewed by over 600,000 people every year, the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at the Broadway “T” Station and ends at Andrew Square in South Boston.  Since 1901, the parade has become an integral part of South Boston’s history. 

Throughout the whole month of March, Irish events are o’plenty, from top entertainment acts from Ireland, local bands, Irish bread bake-offs and corn beef & cabbage dinners at nearly every restaurant. 

There is also an array of places to visit after the parade…Walk along the city’s Irish Heritage Trail, visit the JFK Library or stroll through the Irish Cultural Centre.  Whatever your pleasure, Boston has something for everyone.  So don your Aran sweaters, put on something green and enjoy the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  Happy St. Patrick's Day from the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf!

Returning to the Festival are brothers Bryan and Chris Page of Page Wine Cellars and Revolver Wine Company.  Taking the term “handcrafted” to another level, Page Wine Cellars will present their every growing portfolio with varietals ranging from sauvignon blanc to their premium meritage blend.

Synonymous with perfection and harmony, Opus One is a legendary winery considered by many to be America’s first growth, stemming from the name “Opus” meaning a musical expression denoting the first masterwork of a composer.  Enjoy an exquisite dinner, hosted by France Posener, showcasing their highly desirable wines.

Marc de Grazia – March 1, 2012 – Seminar & Dinner

White wine istockWith emphasis on significant agricultural sites, from more than 80 small estates from 14 Italian wine regions, encompasses the source of grapes that are used by the Marc de Grazia Company.  Founder Marco de Grazia will begin with a seminar featuring Terre Nere from the slopes of Mt. Etna and dinner will include Northern Italian wines from Tuscany, Piedmont and Veneto.

Italian Wine Reception – March 2, 2012

Held in The Wharf Room, this reception will showcase the diversity of wines, with a sampling of more than 45 wines, from various regions of Italy, while Chef Bruce takes on classics from this culinary mecca.


Grgich Hills Estate – March 6, 2012

Barrells istockOne of the most recognized wineries in California, Grgich Hills Estate welcomes wine lovers to its Napa Valley family-owned winery, founded by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich.  Showcasing their richly textured and understated wines, Violet Grgich will offer an opportunity that will delight the most discriminating wine and food aficionados.

Newton Vineyard – March 7, 2012

Hailing from Spring Mountain, California, Newton Vineyard is acclaimed as a wine trailblazer, with its unfiltered wines processed through minimal intervention.  Welcome winemaker, Chris Millard as he showcases these wines.

Markus Huber Winery – February 15, 2012 – SOLD OUT

Enjoy the internationally respected wines of the Huber family, dating back more than 200 years.  Chef Bruce will source Austrian ingredients to add to the authenticity of this Traisental region.

The popular Rising Star dinner returns and, for the first time, features two wineries from Sonoma.  George Wine Co. and Flanagan Vineyards will share the stage and present an unforgettable gathering.
