The Museum of Science Presents the Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit

Scheduled to open on May 19th at the Museum of Science, the Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the public to experience firsthand the traditions, beliefs and extraordinary and priceless objects of ancient Israel.  The exhibition, created by the Israel Antiquities Authority, includes fragments from 20 of the Dead Sea Scrolls and more than 600 artifacts, including a 3-ton stone from Jerusalem’s Western Wall, where visitors are encouraged to leave a note to be sent to Israel.  Most of the fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls that have been discovered were found in caves in the area of Qumran, near the northwest corner of the Dead Sea.

The Music of the Movies Comes to Life with the Boston Symphony Orchestra 2013 Boston Pops!

Under the direction of Keith Lockhart, the Boston Symphony Orchestra 2013 Boston Pops season will present a six-week tribute to the world of movie music, along with programs full of a variety of musical styles, from Broadway to Bluegrass.  This year’s Boston Symphony Orchestra 2013 Boston Pops’ spring schedule theme is the “Best of Hollywood Film Music” and will include a giant projection screen on which accompanying movie clips will be played.  Attendees will hear their favorite music from many of today’s popular soundtracks to a large collection of classic movies.

14 Countries Represented in the Running of the 117th Boston Marathon®!

John Hancock Financial, the principal sponsor of the 117th Boston Marathon®, announced the elite field of 40 athletes that will be participating in the race this year.  14 countries will be represented, including Kenya, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Brussels and many more.  The 117th Boston Marathon®, organized by the Boston Athletic Association, is the world’s oldest marathon and takes place every year on the third Monday in April, also known as Patriot’s Day, a holiday that commemorates the famous battles of Lexington and Concord.  The historic 26 mile race, April 15, 2013, starts on Main Street in the town of Hopkinton and finishes near the John Hancock Tower in Copley Square.
