2013 Boston Wine Festival Features Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Battle of the Cabernets!

There’s no better way to start off the New Year than with a visit to the 2013 Boston Wine Festival!  We’re excited to welcome Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery to the Festival this year, a family-owned historic vineyard and winery whose wines are known for their refined elegance, Spottswoodebalance and classic structure.  Founded in 1882, Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery and President and CEO, Beth Novak Milliken, will delight you with her green approach to all aspects of wine production.

New Year’s Eve First Night Boston Celebration 2013

First Night Boston Celebration 2013 is a signature Boston event and is the oldest and largest of its kind in North America, attracting close to one million people from around the world.  Visitors can look forward to the First Night Festival of the Arts, where the work of 1,000 artists are showcased in 200 performances and exhibits at 35 indoor and outdoor venues throughout the downtown area, including such places as the Boston Common Frog Pond, the Boston Children’s Museum and Copley Square.  On December 31, lively music, dance, theater, visual arts and film programs all will be offered along with a Family Festival at the Hynes Convention Center, a Grand Procession down Boylston Street, immense ice sculptures throughout the city and a spectacular fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks.

Don’t Miss the Brand New, World Premiere of Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker!

Come see a new “spin” on a traditional tale with Boston Ballet’s “The Nutcracker”, a reimagined production with all-new costumes and sets by Robert Perdziola and new choreography by Mikko Nissinen.  Lighter and paler hues will grace the production with more romantic and fluid costumes accentuating the dancers.  The new look was inspired by German culture, with influences from Denmark, Sweden & Russian combined.

71st Annual Tree Lighting & Skating Spectacular at Boston Common Frog Pond!

November brings the much anticipated opening of the Boston Common Frog Pond skating rink and along with its opening comes the Frog Pond Skating Spectacular followed by the 71st Annual Tree Lighting and then the First Night Skating Spectacular!  During the Boston Common Frog Pond Skating Spectaculars, the Skating Club of Boston celebrates talented local skaters along with featuring national and international figure skating champions, synchronized skating and theatre on ice teams.

The Boston Common Frog Pond winter season opening is scheduled for November 16 (weather permitting) and will begin at 10:00 AM going throughout the day until 10:00 PM.  Attendees can enter a raffle for season passes, private and group lessons and even sign up for free 15 minute private lessons right on the spot.
