Have you always wanted to say you participated in The Boston Marathon, but never really thought you could do it? Well, here’s your chance to be part of it and help out a deserving charity at the same time – the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, September 9, 2012, is the only charity event allowed to walk the famous Boston Marathon route, taking on Heartbreak Hill and finishing in Boston’s Back Bay. If the 26.2 mile course seems daunting, there are options for everyone, including a 13.1 mile Babson to Boston route, a 5 mile Boston College route and a 3 mile Dana-Farber route.
Many participants will walk the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk in honor or memory of friends, family, co-workers and patients facing all forms of cancer, with the hopes of someday conquering cancer. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has helped to increase the survival rate for adolescent and adult cancer patients around the world and more than $73 million dollars have been raised since 1989 when the first Walk occurred.
